I started writing songs in my teens as lead singer for a couple of underground
NYC rock bands - "The Bay of Pigs" and "Big Food."
Practicality overcame my psyche so I went to law school, became a lawyer
etc. Without the benefit of a band to back up my rock songwriting,
I went through years of writing mid-tempo pop which never seemed to have
its finger on the pulse of whatever was happening at the time. Eventually,
I started to listen to a lot of Sinatra and Bennett and was won over by
the richness and sensibility of the classic American songbook. I
thought it a worthwhile goal to try to emulate that style of music even
if it does not reflect contemporary taste. I live in central New Jersey with my beautiful wife Joan. My son Sean designed the website and my daughter Erin took the homepage picture. |
